DETAILS
- Entirely decorated with beautiful, colorful suzani embroidery. The jacket features a delicate shawl collar, dropped shoulders and long sleeves. It has front pockets and comes with a removable belt for a more feminine fit. All seams and edges are covered with striped cotton bands. Each Kantha item is unique in its print and color combination. Due to the nature of kantha, you may find different colors on the back of the garment, extra pieces of fabric, smaller imperfections such as spots and dots or extra stitching that add to its unique charm.
COMPOSITION
- This unique item is the result of the repurposing of a vintage Kantha blanket. A Kantha blanket is made from old cotton fabrics, such as saris, which are layered and hand-sewn using the traditional Kantha embroidery technique. This technique is characterized by numerous rows of short, continuous stitches, a method used in India for hundreds of years and particularly widespread among rural women. The Kantha embroidery technique enables the creative recycling of old cotton saris worn by Indian women, giving them a new life as recycled garments, blankets or bedspreads.
